''The Hunters'' is the third instalment in the ''Brotherband'' novel series by Australian author John Flanagan. It was released on 30 October 2012 in the United States, 1 November 2012 in Australia and 2 November 2012 in New Zealand. ==Plot== Hal is chasing Zavac, a pirate, on the ''Heron'', with captured pirate Rikard acting as a guide to follow him. Hal follows Zavac to Zavac's homeland but Hal is forced to dock on two different beaches to help cure Ingvar, who had been hit on the hip by an arrow. Eventually, Hal docks at a small town, where he restocks on supplies and discovers that Zavac had passed through earlier.. Thorn frees Rikard, who had fulfilled his promise, but Vargas, one of Zavac's pirates, murders him secretly, putting Hal under investigation and delaying his departure. Meanwhile, Zavac makes a deal with the mayor of another town, where Zavac pays the mayor to imprison the Herons on a charge of murder. However, with the help of Lydia, the Herons escape, burning the mayor's yacht in the process, before following Zavac to his destination through and alternate, but more dangerous, route, which Hal and his crew manage to navigate. After navigating his own way to the capital of the country, where he gives emeralds to the mayor and tells him that Zavac has more in his own cargo hold. The angry mayor brings Zavac to his office, where Hal and his crew other, resulting in a confrontation leading to Hal challenging Zavac to a ship-to-ship battle. The next day, the Heron and Zavac's ship battle, but Hal manages to cripple Zavac's ship with the Mangler, board the ship, and retrieve the Andomal before the ship sank, with Zavac drowning after the ship sinks. Hal and the rest of the Herons then return to Hallasholm and are celebrated as heroes.
